Psychologist, Oyinkansola Alabi Expresses Worry Over Number Of Gays Marrying Straight People In Nigeria
A Nigerian psychologist and member of the British Psychological Society, Oyinkansola Alabi has expressed concern over how so many gays are getting married to straight people in Nigeria saying it’s unfair.
Ms Alabi, popularly known as ‘Emotions Doctor’, who shared her concern on Facebook, Sunday, September 26, said that it’s unkind for a gay person to deceive someone into marriage and not telling them who they truly are.
According to her, she’s aware of cultural and religious values but the rate at which gays and pansexuals are getting married to straight people in Nigeria makes her worry and she knows it’s unfair to deceive someone into marriage as they do.
“I am concerned about the number of gays and pansexuals in Nigeria getting married to straight people. I am aware of cultural and religious values. I am also aware that it’s unkind to deceive someone into marriage. So what’s the way forward?,”
she wrote, adding that the way forward is to educate ourselves on sexuality and uniqueness and upscale our society into a system where we can all be humans and allow everyone to practice or feel comfortable with their sexual preference. She wrote:
“The way forward is to educate ourselves on sexuality, our uniqueness, expectations and boundaries; and upscale our society into a place where we can all be human. This way people won’t have to hide or be deceptive in order to fit in.”
