BREAKING: ASUU Shuts Down Universities, Commences Nationwide Strike
The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has voted to embark on a one-month warning strike to press home its demands from the government.
The decision comes after a prolonged deliberation following the Federal Government’s inability to implement previous agreements.
The strike was declared on Monday during a press conference addressed by the President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.
According to ASUU National President, the strike will be “comprehensive and total”
Another report from Vanguard revealed that a source said that the strike is to allow the Federal Government to do the needful and that the union would go on an indefinite strike if they fail to respond to their demands. He said:

Our agitation is in the interest of all and if the system is made better, we will all enjoy it. Prominent personalities in the country have waded into the matter but the government seems recalcitrant. Our National President would explain more when he briefs the press later today.”
