Bad Marriages: Iyanya’s Note To The Singles And Married Couples Is Definitely Spot On!
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk aka Iyanya has shared his views on marriage, emphasizing the importance of privacy and protecting one’s relationship from the public eye.
The ‘Kukere’ crooner expressed his views while guest starring on The Kingz Corner podcast, stating that he believes marriage is a sacred and beautiful thing regardless of the bad ones.
He then urged Nigerians to overlook bad marriages and take inspiration from the ones that have succeeded.
The talented entertainer went further to stress on the importance of protecting one’s marriage from the public, adding that Nigerians must learn to ignore ‘bad marriages’ so as not to allow that becloud their view of marriage.
In his words,
“Marriage is beautiful. We have to learn to ignore bad marriages. And not allow those bad marriages to define our expectations of marriage. Don’t let a bad marriage make you think you can’t have a good marriage.”
He went further, emphasizing on the fact that people’s marriages and their issues are not meant for the entertainment of the social media crowd.
Iyanya also warned singles and happily married couples to keep their valuable moments off social media.
For him, finding that one special person is the most important thing and social media has a way or making people fearful about getting married.
He continued,
“Two words, social and media, is your marriage social? Marriage is a beautiful thing And we have to learn to ignore all the bad marriages and not allow those bad marriages define our expectations or don’t let a bad marriage mean you think you can’t have a good marriage.

I believe that if you find someone who loves you and is willing to sacrifice, it [marriage] is beautiful. I know people who are happily married, not that they don’t have challenges but I’ve watched them protect what they have.
Some people who are happily married are not on Instagram; they don’t post valuable moments. They keep it, they cherish it.”
