Mohbad’s Widow Reveals Conditions Her Father In-Law Gave Her To Do DNA Of Her Son As She Details All Her Struggles Since Her Husband’s Tragic Death

Late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, has finally addressed some of the things that had been happening behind the scenes since her husband’s tragic death.
Since Mohbad’s sudden death in September 2023, Wunmi has been at the centre of a heated dispute with the late singer’s family, the father in-law especially.
Her father-in-law has repeatedly insisted on a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity, a request that has fueled more controversy.
The young widow finally granted her first interview since her husband’s death on the With Chude Jideonwo show where she accused her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba of trying to take control of her late husband’s properties while making degrading comments about their son, Liam.
In the emotional interview, Wunmi spoke out about the ongoing battle over Mohbad’s estate, the controversy surrounding their son’s paternity, and the fear that now defines her life.
She further revealed why the test to determine her son’s paternity has been delayed for so long.
Since the death of Mohbad, his father has granted multiple interviews, insisting that DNA test must be done to prove that Omowunmi’s son, Liam, is Mohbad’s. According to Mr Aloba, his son wasn’t sure Liam was his before his death.
Speaking with Chude, Omowunmi was asked the reason for the delay with the DNA test and she stated that her lawyer had written to Mohbad’s father that they were ready to do the DNA.
However, she alleges he has continued to delay and frustrate efforts to get the test done.
Omowunmi claimed her father-in-law knows Liam belongs to Mohbad but he doesn’t want the DNA done to prove it because the goodwill he receives from Mohbad’s fans would then shift to Mohbad’s son and he will no longer keep enjoying what he currently enjoys from Mohbad’s fans.
Omowunmi added that many “die hard fans” of Mohbad have been reaching out and all they want is to be certain of the child’s paternity before extending goodwill to the child. She claimed her father-in-law does not want that.
She also stated that her father-in-law gave her two conditions before the DNA test can be done: that she must not reveal the result to the public; and that she must not sue him after the result is known. She said:
“I have been making it clear that I’m ready to do the DNA test, but he was saying that once I do it, I shouldn’t make the results known to the public.”
She said her father-in-law has granted multiple interviews, tarnishing her image, calling her a promiscuous woman who cheated on her husband and insinuating that Liam is not his grandchild because he has bowleg and no one in their family has such.
She also added that she receives hate messages and threats in her DMs daily for demanding justice for her late husband.
In her words:
“My father-in-law wanted to be in control of my husband’s properties, and he would literally go all out to destroy my life.
“He has been chastising Liam so much. He says my son has bow legs and that no one in their family has such. He even said that Liam’s face is older than his, and he is almost 60.”
She further alleged that her father-in-law accused Mohbad of wanting to throw their son into the lagoon.
“He went as far as saying that Mohbad wanted to throw our son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge,”
she revealed.
On September 12, 2023, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad passed away in suspicious circumstances.
After Nigerians demanded justice, his body was exhumed on September 21 so that an autopsy could be performed to ascertain the cause of his death.
Last year, the pathologist testified that the 27-year-old singer’s body had already decomposed when the test was conducted, making it impossible to determine the cause of death during a coroner’s inquest on Wednesday, May 15.
Still speaking, Wunmi added that she has been unable to mourn Mohbad’s death since his demise because to her it still feels like he’s alive.
According to the singer’s widow, Mohbad’s corpse is still at the morgue in Yaba and he was cut up two different times because of the two autopsies that were done.
In her words:
“I haven’t even mourned the death of my husband, it still feels like my husband is alive because he is in Yaba morgue, he hasn’t been buried. He has been ‘piecesed’ twice, they literally did two autopsies, the government autopsy and the private autopsy my father in-law did.”
Beyond the property battle and paternity dispute, Wunmi says her safety is at risk. The mother of one said:
“My son and I no longer feel safe. I receive threats on my social media handles every day, and it has reached a point where I either speak up or suffer in silence.
“I have been attacked by Naira Marley, his cohorts, his supporters, and my father-in-law.”
Speaking on her marriage with the late singer, Wunmi said her father-in-law initiated the marriage and was the happiest about it.
She, however, wondered how he could claim she wasn’t married to the late singer.
