Rapper Ruggedman Gets Candid About Why He Is Yet To Have A Wife Or Child At 51

Nigerian rapper and activist, Michael Stephens, better known as Ruggedman, has disclosed why he is yet to get married or have children of his own yet.
The 51-year-old bachelor appeared on TVC’s Your View where he gave an insight into his personal life, revealing that he made a conscious decision in his younger years to not have a child outside of wedlock, and has kept his word since then.
When the hosts asked if he had a significant other or a child, he said he doesn’t. They asked why and he explained:
“I am not married and do not have a child yet. When I was much younger, I vowed never to have a child out of wedlock. Sometimes, I wonder whether I made the right or wrong decision. But still, it takes a lot from both parties. You have to do it with someone you really love.”
He added that to enter into marriage and fatherhood, one has to do it with someone they genuinely want to be with.
Asked if he hasn’t seen anyone good enough for him over the years, he replied:
“I don see some but at the end of the day, e no pan out.”
Ruggedman then spoke candidly about his past relationships, revealing that he had once planned to marry a particular woman, but their engagement was interrupted by the arrival of a wealthy suitor, who was ultimately able to separate them.
Explaining further, he said the wealthy man penetrated the mother of the lady he was dating then and was giving her contracts, so she made sure her daughter went with the richer man. He recalled:
“There was a particular lady I was supposed to marry, but a wealthy man came into the picture, and her mother separated us.”
One of the hosts told Ruggedman that he looks like a responsible person so she’s shocked he’s not married and he replied that marriage isn’t about being responsible and that a lot of irresponsible people are married.
The entertainer added that he is not the type to be pressured into marriage.
When asked if he is a difficult person to live with, he said he isn’t but he won’t knowingly make a decision that isn’t good for him.

He added that many say life is hard but it is only hard when people “knowingly” make wrong decisions despite knowing it is not the right thing for them.
However, he agreed with the hosts that he is “principled” and he doesn’t “bend”.
In a 2021 interview, the rapper mentioned that neither his mother nor other family members had been pressuring him to settle down.
He made it clear that he would marry when he felt ready, remaining firm in his belief that marriage is a personal decision that should happen at the right time.
