Billionaire Businessman, Obi Cubana Unveils ‘Next-of-kin’ After Adopted Son Claimed Role In TikTok Challenge

Nigerian billionaire businessman and nightlight connoisseur, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has cleared the air on who his real next-of-kin is.

This comes after his adopted son, Chidi, went viral on social media after he joined a Tiktok challenge where he vaguely claimed to be the billionaire’s next-of-kin.Chidi had posted on TikTok with the caption,

“Nothing do my shoulder, I just realise say I be next of kin”.

In what could be described as a subtle response to Chidi’s antics, Obi Cubana posted a photo of himself and Alex, his biological son, on Instagram with the caption:

“Ancient and Modern, eyes on the ball! @dtwalx aka Next-of-kin!”

He further emphasised Alex’s status as his original next-of-kin in the comment section of another post, writing, “Correct boy, original next-of-kin”.

The post sparked controversy with many criticising Cubana for airing the issue publicly instead of resolving it privately with Chidi.

Some users felt that Obi Cubana’s response was unnecessary and harsh while others supported his clarification of Alex’s status.

Nigerian author and self-acclaimed life coach, Solomon Buchi, took a swipe at the father of four for his comment. He wrote;

“Coming online to declare your biological son next of kin because of a cheeky post by your adopted son is irresponsible and crass. Obi Cubana could have easily asked him to take the post down, but he decided to publicly remind his adopted son of “his place”.

Don’t adopt children if you will not see and treat them like your blood. I’ve seen Nigerian men defend Obi Cubana, claiming that the adopted son should have known his place.

“His place” doesn’t exist because he’s his father’s son. Adoption means legally taking another child as yours, so an adopted son should have ALL the rights and privileges of a SON.

The adopted son said nothing out of line, because a week ago, Obi Cubana made a post addressing his sons as next-of-kins. So, the boy probably made the TikTok video on that premise. Publicly throwing him under the bus shows lack of total acceptance.
