Buhari Says He’ll Ban Importation of Rice & Tomatoes If Elected
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared on Monday in a meeting with the Organised Private Sector in Lagos, hosted by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola that he will ban importation of rice and tomatoes if elected in the upcoming February 14 elections.
“How can Nigeria be importing virtually everything? How can we be importing even tomatoes? If I am elected, basic items like rice and tomatoes, which we have the capacity to produce, will be banned from being imported,” Buhari said.

Did he say what he will do to make the masses not suffer? Before banning this he should put measures in place so the masses wont suffer. Our agricultural sector is doing poorly. Dont just say u want to ban stuff without providing alternative measures for the masses. I’m sitting on the fence on this elections. One thing I know is Buhari’s tenure is one of suffering. I hope it turns out well for us Nigerians.
First of all I doubt we import tomatoes , secondly I expected him to say he will put in place measures or buffer the present measures which GEJ has already put on ground to boost rice production and agricultural produce in general before ranting about banning things….this man has no clear vision jooo

That’s not the first point of call, there are lots of things to tackle before banning importation of food or else people are going to die of hunger.

Basic items like…., which means there are more to b banned whether Nigeria can produce enough or not. Well I know it’s just for selfish reasons to help his Northern brothers after all we all know they are the ones to benefit from the ban
