Update: Police Release Six Of Davido’s Domestic Staff, Detain Two Over Son’s Tragic Death
The Lagos state police command has released six and detained two of Davido’s eight domestic staff that were initially invited for questioning over the singer’s son’s death.
Davido’s 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke died on Monday night after he drowned in a swimming pool in the singer’s home in Banana Island, Lagos state.
It was reported that nanny assigned to Ifeanyi was with the toddler when the cook came to join them. The nanny was said to have moved away to receive a call, leaving him with the cook, who also said he had left the three-year-old with the nanny.
They began to look for Ifeanyi all over the house for close to 20 mins until a security guard spotted him in the pool.
No one could explain how the boy got in the pool. Davido and his fiancee, Chioma Rowland were said to have returned from their trip to the devastating news.
The sad news of Ifeanyi’s death shook Nigerian cyberspace to the core, with many heartbroken by the tragic incident.
Following the news, eight domestic staff working as minders to him were invited to the station to give their own account of what happened (Read Here).
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this to newsmen, said,
“Domestic staff at Davido’a home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet.
If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest.”
In an updated development, a source revealed that following serious interrogation, six of the domestic staff have been released while the chef and the nanny have been detained. The source said:
“Nanny was with Ifeanyi and the Chef came to join them. The Nanny was said to have moved slightly away to receive a call.
When she returned, she couldn’t find Ifeanyi and assumed he was with the Chef but the Chef said he had left Ifeanyi with her.
They began to frantically look for Ifeanyi all over the house for close to 20 mins until a security guard spotted him in the pool.”
The deceased was Davido’s only child with his third baby mama, Chioma.
