‘Married Men, Take Care Of Your Parents, Siblings More Than Your In-laws’ | Nigerian Mum-Of-2 Reacts Unapologetically In Advise To Married Women
Nigerian woman, Nkechi Bianze, has advised married women to put their own families and parents first over their in-laws.
The mother of two gave the advice on Friday after a man on X @jon_d_doe advised men to take care of their parents and siblings more than their in-laws as he doesn’t owe them any financial obligation.
The only obligation a married man owes his in-laws, according to John Doe, is to take care of their daughter. He wrote:
“As a married man, Take care of your parents and siblings more than you do for your in-laws. You don’t owe your in-laws any financial obligations. What you owe them is to take care of their daughter. End.”
In reaction, Bianze adviced fellow married women to also focus on their own parents and siblings. According to her, ‘if your father in-law or mother in-law is sick, let their children look after them. Focus on your own parents’.

“As a married woman, focus on your family more than you focus on your in-laws.
If your father in-law or mother in-law is sick, let their children look after them. Focus on looking after your own parents.
Also, you need to stop doing unpaid house girl duties for your in-laws. You do NOT owe your in-laws any care obligations. What you owe them is to take care of their son.
Men ALWAYS put their families first before their in-laws. Women should learn to UNAPOLOGETICALLY put their families first over their in-laws.”
She continued:
“As long as it’s vice versa. But as a woman, they want you to focus on your in-laws more than your own family. They want you to take care of your sick in-laws more than your sick family members.
Anyway, this nah for women wey mumu! I have no issues with what this man have said. The problem is that they expect women to do the opposite. EVERYONE, man or woman should focus more on their own families that they should focus on their in-laws.”
