Firefighters Rescue Teen Who Got Stuck in a Barney Costume for 45 Minutes
Alabama firefighters rescued a 15-year-old named Darby Risner after she got stuck in a giant Barney head for 45 minutes while trying to scare her friends, according to ABC News .
The teenager was at a sleepover with her friends when she picked up the Barney head from the floor and put the over-sized dinosaur head on, but it slipped over her shoulders and got stuck.
“All the girls started trying to pull it off, but it wasn’t budging. I started getting a little claustrophobic and felt like it was kind of closing in,” Risner said to ABC News about the failed attempt to pull off the dinosaur head.
Her friend’s mother then drove her to the Trusville fire station in order not to “alarm the whole neighborhood with sirens” of approaching trucks.
The firefighters were able to cut into the back of the Barney head to relieve the pressure and were finally able to free the girl from the Barney head.
“When they walked in, you couldn’t help but start laughing. We tried to be professional, and she was a little distraught, but we had to giggle about it,” Trussville Fire Lt. Vince Bruno said.
