A woman in her 30s has been arrested after posing for months as a 15-year-old high school student.Charity Johnson, 31, enrolled at New Life Christian School in Longview, Texas, last October with ID to say she was 15 years old.

She claimed to be Charite Stevens, with a birth date of November 24 1997.

She told officials that she had previously been home-schooled and had no prior transcripts, but she was rumbled after a woman who took her in, believing she was a vulnerable teenager, became suspicious.

Tamica Lincoln said she took Johnson to enrol at the school after meeting her in March 2013, when  she claimed to be an orphan from an abusive household.

It’s thought Charity Johnson spent more than six months attending lessons at a Texas High School, despite being more than twice the age of her classmate

Ms Lincoln told KLTV “I sympathised with her, and invited her into my home.

“I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes.”

Ms Lincoln became the Johnson’s guardian, but began to doubt her story and alerted police, who arrested her.

She has now been charged with failure to identify herself and giving false information.

The school said a letter would be sent home with other students to explain the situation, but declined to comment further.
