#MyMumAndI: Fun Ways to Bond With Your Kids This Mother’s Day & Always
Mother’s Day is this Sunday, the 6th of March and we are celebrating motherhood. We are acknowledging dynamic and hard working mothers who constantly have to juggle between different roles while finding ways to incorporate fun and quality time with their kids in their busy schedule.
While motherhood is a tough gig and has it’s baffling moments, the most powerful motivation for us as mothers is to see our children happy. We are rewarded every day with their smiles, laughter, hugs and kisses. A lot of mums even say their kids are more fun to spend time with than most adults they know and this is because children are the greatest companions in life.
Here are some fun ways to bond with your kids this Mother’s Day and always…
1. Kitchen Bonding
We all know the amount of multitasking that mothers have to do in the kitchen to get that delicious food ready just in time. Why not let your little ones help you out in the kitchen? It will be a good time for them to bond with you and learn practical skills, such as counting and measuring, along with social skills like following instructions and patience – all while fostering creativity.
2. Sharing Stories and Bonding over Books
Do you have a book store or work in a library or are you simply a mum who needs to introduce the culture of reading in your home? Reading with your kids is a great way to bond with them. In addition, mothers who take time out to read to their kids get to learn a lot about their kids’ thought process, imagination and more. The children in turn have a lot to benefit from the experience. These include boosts in their literacy development, social and emotional development, as well as increased likelihood of later overall school success.
3. Going out on a date
Yum! Kids all love a yummy treat and having it outside of home makes it even more interesting! We sure know this is the best way to get your kids excited as every kid loves to hear the statement, “Let’s go get some ice-cream or pizza.” From ice cream, to cheese cake, fruit salad and more, their level of happiness will always be at 100%. Take advantage of weekends, midterm breaks and holidays to have a chat with them and get to learn more about what’s going on in their world.
Other activities you can have with them:
*Get crafty, bond over creating art
*Take them to the market and go shopping
*Go to the movies
*Take them to work whenever you can, let them see your world
*Let your kids accompany you to that party
*Do house chores together
*Go swimming
So mothers, let us do something exciting and very special on social media! Record your child telling us what they enjoy doing with you and post it on Instagram using the hashtag #MyMumandI.
