Woman Kidnaps Her Kids To Get Ransom From Husband | Gets Caught

A mother-of-two has been arrested for reportedly staging the kidnap of her children in order to get money from her husband in Rivers state.

Punch Metro reports that the Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday paraded a woman, Mrs Abigail Brown for allegedly organizing the kidnap of her two kids in Eleme.

Abigail and her husband’s former driver, ThankGod, were said to have connived to kidnap her two kids and ask the husband to pay a ransom for their release.

When Abigail was interrogated by the police, she denied kidnapping her children at first but later claimed the act was not deliberate. She said frustration drove her into committing the crime as she had no means of survival.

She added, “I took my children to my sister’s house and asked for money from my husband but not the N6 million they are alleging.”

“It was frustration that made me to start demanding money from my husband. My husband abandoned me and our two children for years. I have been suffering with my children and I know that he has money. I did not kidnap my own children for money.”

The suspect, ThankGod, who accepted taking part in the kidnap, said Abigail, his former boss’s wife contacted him on phone to assist her take her children to her sister’s place.

He said, “She called me to help her. She told me to take the two children to her sister’s place. That is how I got involved. She used me to act as the kidnapper of the two children before we were arrested. She lured me into it.”

According to another reports, in an interaction with journalists in Port Harcourt, the command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said the suspect planned the kidnap of her children with the intent to extort N6 million from her husband.

The DSP also revealed that her male accomplice, ThankGod, was arrested when they went to collect the money they demanded from the husband as a ransom for the release of her abducted children.
