SAD: Couple Found Dead in Their Home After Eating Breakfast in Ondo

A couple identified as Mr and Mrs Femi Oguntuase were found dead in their home located at Oba-Ile in the Akure North Local Government area of Ondo state. They are thought to have died after eating breakfast.

According Punch, a source in the town who noted the cause of the couple’s death is yet to be uncovered, revealed their dead bodies were found on the floor of their sitting room on Saturday.

The source added that they were both found lying on the floor with a bottle of palm oil beside them. The husband was naked while his wife was in a T-shirt and wrapper.

A resident who identified herself as Salewa also claimed the husband and wife were seen in the morning of that fateful day, adding that neighbours were shocked to find them dead in the afternoon.

She said, ”We saw the husband in the morning, but in the afternoon, they were found dead,” adding that a bowl of pap and some ‘Akara’ (bean cake) were found beside their dead bodies, indicating they died after taking their breakfast.

She said palm oil was found inside their mouths which showed that they might have eaten poisoned food and drank palm oil as antidote.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph, explained that no arrest had been made as his team is yet to discover the cause of the couple’s death. He added,

”We got the report of the incident on Saturday and we are still investigating to get to the cause of the death. The bodies have been deposited at the hospital for autopsy, it is after the autopsy that we will know the next step to take.”
