Nursing Mum Arraigned Over N3.7 Million Fraud
A nursing mother, Nwakoba Francisca and two others, Patience Owerema and Okafor Kingsley were on Thursday arraigned by the EFCC on a four-count charge of conspiracy, abuse of office, forgery, impersonation and diversion of funds to the tune of N3.7 million before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
According to PremiumTimes, they allegedly conspired to divert the money, said to be the terminal benefit of the petitioner’s dad who was a former employee of NITEL/MTEL.
The petitioner, Udemba Emmanuel, had found out that the money had been paid into an account opened by the accused persons in his late dad’s name after several failed attempts to collect the money.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty.
The nursing mum, Francisca, was granted bail on compassionate grounds while others were remanded in prison custody pending the conclusion of the trial.
