Awww…Teacher Donates Kidney to Her Ailing 8-Year-Old Student
8-year-old Wisconsin schoolgirl, Natasha Fuller, was born with prune belly syndrome. She was later diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease requiring a kidney transplant, and had to have regular dialysis pending when a compatible kidney was found.
According to reports, things looked very bleak for Natasha’s family until her teacher, Jodi Schmidt, volunteered to donate her one of her kidneys and doctors found it a perfect match for their ailing daughter.
The transplant was successfully carried out on Tuesday, and Natasha and her kind-hearted teacher are said to be recovering perfectly.
A statement issued by Natasha’s family in appreciation of Schmidt’s rare generosity read,
“Thanks to Jodi’s amazing gift and support of her family, we are with Tasha as she recovers and gets stronger after the transplant. Her doctors at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin say that everything went well and that we could not have asked for a better organ. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support our family has received, particularly from Oakfield Elementary staff and students, along with her friends and family in Grandfield, Oklahoma. Tasha looks forward to seeing you all as soon as she can.”
