Daughter Of Police Officer Shot in The Deadly Sniper Attack in Dallas Speaks
A mother, Misty McBride of the Dallas DART police force has been named among the 11 officer shot by snipers during a peaceful protest against nationwide officer-involved shootings at about 9 p.m on Thursday night. Five other police officers were killed.
“Some officers were shot in the back,” said a police officer, who also stated that the victims were attacked “ambush-style.”
Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots and saw protesters start running.
“They were shooting down at police. I saw officers get hit,” said a protester, Jamal Johnson.
According to CBS, Misty who has worked with the force for about 5 years sustained two gunshot wounds, one in the arm and another in her abdomen.
Misty was taken to Baylor Medical Center last night for medical attention.
At the hospital, her 10-year-old daughter Hunter McBride who came to see how her mum was fairing said to reporters:
“I’m just glad that she’s alive, really. I said I love you and I’m glad you’re here,” she said when asked what she told her mother.
Speaking with Misty’s father Richard McBride, he said his daughter had been shot while standing in the street, suffering a broken shoulder and wound to the stomach before falling to the floor adding that she crawled across the floor back to her patrol car where other officers pulled her inside and took her to the hospital.
He said: “She’s just waiting to go into surgery but there’s a lot of people a lot worse off than her.”
