“People Shouldn’t Be Ashamed Of Their Fertility Struggles” John Legend Opens Up About Continuing IVF Treatment With Wife Chrissy Teigen
Grammy award winning RnB singer, John Legend has been very outspoken about the couple’s fertility struggles.
The ‘All of me’ crooner opened up to ITV’s Loose women in an interview saying, his wife and him will continue with IVF treatment as they hope to expand their family. He explained:
“A lot of people struggle with fertility and they shouldn’t be ashamed of it. A lot of people want to have kids and maybe can’t do it the natural way. I think people should do it if that’s what will work for them.”
John, 37, and wife Chrissy 31, who welcomed their first child Luna, in April has revealed that they intend to expand their brood to three or even four. He said; ‘We’ll do it again [IVF]. We want to have a few kids, like three or four’.
The Grammy Award-winning musician who just recently released a new album, admits that a lot of the songs on it are inspired by his daughter Luna, as he was waiting to become a father when he began the writing and recording process. I wrote a song specifically dedicated to her (Luna) it’s called ‘Right By You’.
“The whole album was influenced by the fact I was becoming a new father, I was writing a lot of it before she was born but when I knew we were having a baby so I was thinking a lot about that when I was writing the songs. I wrote a song specifically dedicated to her (Luna) it’s called Right By You”
John, who has been with Chrissy since they met on set of a music video when she was just 20 before walking down the aisle in 2013, revealed;
“We like to eat together, we like to cook together, we like to watch bad TV together. We like to do everything together. We’ve been friends and lovers for a long time.”
Despite being elated about becoming first time parents, John and his wife had a rough path to parenthood. They both struggled with infertility for several years before turning to IVF for conception. Opening up about their struggles, He admitted that their doctor was never able to give them an answer regarding why they couldn’t conceive naturally. He said;
“We figured eventually we’d have to go into the doctor and see why it wasn’t happening naturally. You know, sometimes it’s just harder for some people than for others. We’re just happy that we were able to do it with our doctor. He’s never really told us that there was something specific that he could identify was the reason why it just didn’t work out naturally. We did what we had to do”
The excited father, said that the birth of his daughter, is the highlight of this year and he, wants to enjoy the journey of parenthood.
“I want to work less now, you know, I want to be home more, and be able to just help my wife with whatever she needs. Also, I just be there to experience Luna growing up. I want to take them on tour. I want to be around”
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with any kinda struggle in life.
Everyone has struggles and no one should be ashamed of their struggles.
I pray for women still struggling with infertility. May God give them a surprise sooner than they could imagine in Jesus name, Amen
