Amazing! How 4 Year Old Boy Saved Mother’s Life
Jacob Onions, 4, born with a severe speech ailment, had to do the needful when he found his mother unconscious on the floor.
His mom, 33-year-old Gemma Onions, has a condition, which causes her to have spasms in her arms, legs and back, lose sensation in her body and fall down, leaving her unconscious. She always told her three children to call 999 whenever this occurs.
Daily mail, reports that:
Jacob, managed to stay calm when he found his mother on the floor of their home. The four year old, tried waking his mum up but to no avail. He immediately took out her phone and called the emergency number 999 requesting for an ambulance. He said:
“Mummy is on the floor. Mummy has hurt herself. She isn’t talking.”
He followed the instruction given to him and responded to questions while he waited for help to arrive. Eventually his mum woke up, calling for for help saying:
“I’ve fallen over, I’ve smacked my head. I can’t move my legs.”
She was immediately informed that her son had put a call through and the paramedics were on the way.
“Oh, he’s a clever little boy. He is such a brave little boy for someone who can barely speak. He has very severe speech problems. He can say a few words clearly but he finds sentences very difficult.
He just picked up the phone without hesitation and saved me.Jacob is my little hero. I was so proud of him when I found out. He probably saved my life.”
Morgan, the call handler who spoke to Jacob during the 13-minute call, said:
“It was a difficult call, and it took me a little while to establish what was happening, but Jacob was amazing. I asked him a lot of questions and he was happy to talk to me and answered me as best he could.
He acted very quickly and did exactly the right thing, which meant that we were able to get the right help to his mum. She must be very proud of him.
Every now and then you take a call that gets to you, and this was one of them, and I must admit I shed a couple of tears afterwards.”
