Hollywood Mom Viola Davis Keeps Winning! Becomes First African American Actress to win 5 SAG Awards
Viola Davis, continues to be a trail blazer. The versatile Hollywood actress and mom scored her fifth Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) Award, making her the first African-American actress and the first woman of color to get 5 SAG Awards in total.
She was awarded on Sunday, 29th of January 2017 winning the best supporting actress in a motion picture category for her role in the Denzel Washington-directed movie, ‘Fences.’
You will recall that Davis, recently made history after receiving a third Oscar nomination, (read here).
Davis, has earned a total of eight SAG nominations and previously won the dramatic series best actress award in 2015 and 2016 for ‘How to Get Away with Murder’, and the lead actress award and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for 2012 movie ‘The Help.’
Julianna Marguiles holds the record for most SAG wins by a female actor, with a total of eight trophies.
