6 Thoughts Every Pregnant Woman Has During Natural Labor

When that time comes, that prolonged, nerve racking, incessant pain of labor, without a shadow of a doubt, all women think the same thing. They find out firsthand, that most of the things they were told would help keep their minds of the pain, doesn’t really work for everybody. Yes, there are a few tricks that can help shorten your labor period, especially for second, third and older mums, then again, pain is pain mummies. See some of the things we discovered every woman thinks during those moments.

  • ” I’d breathe the pain away”

This is a labor legendary myth. Doctors give this advice to all women, especially in pre-natal classes on how to use breathing techniques to pass the pain away. However, from the intensity of contractions to the waves of pain and the hormones having their go at your nerves. Don’t even get us started on the sweating and grunting, Mummies don’t breathe any pain away, they scream!

  • “I don’t care how many people are in the room.”

You get to the point where you would not care about who sees you naked any more. Not that its a necessity, most women always strip during labor, the though of having anything on you during that time just makes you irritated. You have your lady parts poked at least 6 times, nurses or doctors rubbing your hips or bottom to ease the pain for you, all you are waiting to hear is you finally hit 10 cm and can push the baby out of you.

  • “I’m going to poo on myself”

Some women do, some don’t. At this point, you care very little for whatever is coming out too. Apart from the baby being born, a lot of other things are going to be coming out from some very distinctive parts of your body and poop, is going to be the least of your worries.

  • If somebody tells me to Pele or Ndo again, i will punch them”

When you see someone in pain, all you want to do is to soothe them as much as you can. Here, the familiar term is ‘pele’, ‘ndo’, ‘sorry’, ‘try and save your energy’  and a lot of other nice things. Then again, when you are screaming loud due to pain, trust us, the last thing you want is someone telling you ‘pele’. You re going to want to punch them, even if you don’t.

  • “My vagina is ruined!”

During antenatal classes, you are taught that your vagina is built for child birth. That no matter how far it stretches or tears, it always goes back to its natural state. That is very true. But however, while you are in the battle front of labor, it feels more like hot iron fire daggers impaling you down south and all you can think of is how disfigured your vagina looks.
