Mel B Files for Divorce from Husband after Almost 10 Years of Marriage

After years of speculations of abuse in Mel B’s marriage to Stephen Belafonte (read here), the former Spice Girl, 41, has finally filed for divorce from her husband of almost 10 years.

DailyMail exclusively reports that the mum of three filed divorce papers on Monday few months to their 10th year wedding anniversary, signaling an end to the relationship plagued with claims of violent rows.

Mel, who tied the knot with the producer in Las Vegas in 2007, cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ in legal papers filed at Los Angeles Superior Court.

The America’s Got Talent star listed ‘joint custody’ in the filing, opting to share responsibility of the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Madison. Mel has two other children from previous relationships.

Just last month, the couple, who secretly got married in Las Vegas on June 6, 2007, seemed blissfully happy when the singer took to Instagram to gush about how their relationship had stayed strong all through their 10 years together.

She wrote:

“My baby boo @stephenthinks11 we have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger, you loved me before I even new how to really love myself, you are my world honey and lets not forget you are abit of a d*ckhead too ***”
