UK Singer Ed Sheeran Makes a Difference in the Lives Of Orphaned Children in Liberia
Sensational singer, Ed Sheeran, who is known for his alternative style of music and mind blowing lyrics, seems to have a different side of him that a lot of people are not even aware of.
Ed visited Liberia to support a fund raising event, and he met a young boy named JD whom he started a friendship with. The young boy, JD, is an orphan who lives in a canoe, and survives on a cup of water and a slice of bread everyday. Without the love of a mother or father, JD struggles to avoid being bullied and beaten by older boys in the community or getting raped, which is a rising concern in Liberia, as young boys get raped constantly.
When it was time to leave, The Sun UK reports that Ed said it didn’t feel right just walking away with out doing anything to ensure that the boy was safe and well catered for.
“I mean, the only thing you can do is help them, which we should. My natural instinct is to just put them in a car and just take them and just put them in a hotel until we can get them sorted.”
A statement was released by Comic Relief, a huge charity organisation in the UK, confirming that the children Ed Sheeran reached out to in the slumS are now safe. They had managed to raise £71,308,475 on Friday night alone to help people in poverty around the globe.
