Not Again! Gunmen Storm Igbo Nla Model College Lagos After Writing to Warn School of their Visit
On Thursday morning, suspected kidnappers stormed Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals of both the junior and senior secondary alongside some students.
The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours during the school’s morning assembly. The gunmen allegedly abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade, who is the principal of the senior secondary school, Sahara Reporters gathered.
This is coming one week after the kidnappers wrote to the management of the school informing them of an imminent visit.
Presenting the case to the House of Representatives, the member representing Epe Constituency, Wale Raji, appealed to the House to call on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to treat the case with utmost urgency.
Reports state that police were overwhelmed by the number of militants and the sophisticated weapons they carried. The kidnappers are believed to be Niger Delta militants, who have been involved in a variety of criminal activities in the area.
It will be recalled that last October, kidnappers attacked the same school seizing four students, two members of staff, including a Vice Principal (read here).
