Igbonla Model College Kidnap Update: ”Abducted students will soon regain freedom” Lagos State Police Assures Parents
The Lagos state police command says it is working hard to ensure that the six students abducted from the Igbonla Model school in Epe (read here), regain their freedom very soon.
It will be recalled that the students, all boys, were abducted on May 25th. According to reports, their abductors demanded N100 million ransom but parents of the six students raised N6 million and offered that to the kidnappers but they turned down the offer.
The kidnappers are now demanding that the Lagos state government should pay the ransom.
Speaking in a recent interview with Channels, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said:
“On the Epe children, we are doing everything that we can to make sure they are rescued alive and unhurt, but I won’t be able to mention to you the stage that we are now because the safety of the children is paramount to us.”
In May, a gang of militants, stormed Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals of both the junior and senior secondary alongside some students.
The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours during the school’s morning assembly.
It will be recalled that last October, kidnappers attacked the same school seizing four students, two members of staff, including a Vice Principal (read here).
