Dear MIMsters: Who Will Make a Better Husband? My semi illeterate Boyfriend or School Crush?

I met this amazing guy in June, last year. We got so close so fast that it was like we’ve known each other for so long. He always came through for me when I was in school. Personally, I don’t like the idea of being a burden to any guy before they begin to talk trash. To my surprise, he proposed to me in October that same year. I was blindsided and didn’t see it coming but said yes to it. The main problem is he is semi-illeterate.

I took advise from my friend who told me to introduce him to my mum as a friend as I was already in my final year. The thing is that I feel he is in a hurry. I think we ought to know what we are getting into since it’s a life committment.

Secondly, he has only a certificate from a polytechnic and I am planning on getting my Masters soon. He also has a problem with his communication skills i.e. reading, writing, spelling and sometime I makes me  feel so ashamed about him because he is adamant about being corrected.

I have tried convincing him to go back to school but he has not made any encouraging efforts. He told me last night that he is planning for the official introduction with my family in December. I am worried about his presentation in my absence.

Secondly, there is this other guy I met in my first year. To cut a long story short, he really really loves me and will do anything for me but ever since I told him about my current boyfriend, he has been so sad, feels lost and the fire he has for me is gradually dying. My only reason for not yielding to him is because he is fat and is technically not the best in terms of outlooks. I need your advice on who to settle for.
