Sad! Even Death Could Not Separate Ras Kimono And Wife, Efemena Okedi
Three months after his death and barely a month after his burial, the widow of reggae legend, Ras Kimono, Efemena Okedi has died. She reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday after she complained of illness and was rushed to the hospital. She was aged 42.
The Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, Tony Okoroji, has since confirmed the news of Efe’s demise. He described it as ‘devastating,’ adding that the deceased played a very vital role during last month’s burial of her late husband. BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL & BLESSED!!! EFE OKEDI WAS A SPECIAL KIND OF WOMAN. FEW NIGERIAN WOMEN HAVE MADE THE KIND OF IMPRESSION THAT EFE OKEDI HAS MADE ON ME. JUST RECENTLY, EFE LOST THE LOVE OF HER LIFE, MY FRIEND, THE GREAT RUB-A-DUB MASTER, RAS KIMONO AND FATHER OF HER DAUGHTER, DIMMA, A GUY WITH WHOM EFE WAS INSEPERABLE. COMPLETELY HEART BROKEN AS SHE WAS, EFE DID EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE THAT KIMONO WAS BURIED LIKE A KING. IN LAGOS, IN ASABA, IN ONICHA OLONA, EFE WAS A GUIDING LIGHT OF THE CELEBRETAED BURIAL OF RAS KIMONO.
I AM TOTALLY DEVASTATED. IT MAKES NO SENSE… JUST ONE MONTH AFTER KIMONO WAS LAID TO REST, I RECEIVED A CALL EARLY THIS MORNING THAT EFE OKEDI HAS JOINED KIMONO! THE BEAUTIFUL EFE OKEDI HAS PASSED ON! I AM REALLY NOT SURE I CAN DEAL WITH THIS.”
It was reliably gathered that the deceased who had attended an event on Saturday and returned late in the evening died without any sign of a previous ailment.
Kimono married Efe after he parted ways with his 1st wife, Sybil, the woman he spent a greater part of his life with, and who bore him 3 daughters and managed his career for many years. Ras Kimono And Sybil relocated to the United States some years back and that was the last that was heard of them. A few years back, Kimono had returned all alone and was being managed by Efe Okedi, and just like it happened between him and Sybil, they also fell in love, started living together and ultimately had a daughter- Dimma together. Dimma, Efe’s daughter with Kimono is the late singer’s 5th daughter.

At Kimono’s lying-in-state at the headquarters of Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, in Ikeja, Lagos; Efe, who was overcome by grief, had expressed her undying love for the late singer and the father of her daughter, describing him as “a loving husband” who was different.
She had stated further:
“We were always together; he was always the best. Of course, I have had other relationships, but Ras Kimono was different. I would miss him forever.”
Efe witnessed the last days of Kimono, she was with the music icon when he died and had since refused to be consoled, which gave many of their friends reasons to express concern about her survival, after the death of her husband.
It was reliably gathered that late Kimono rarely went anywhere without Efe, now; even death could not keep them away from each other.
