Strawberry milk is easy to make at home and much healthier too, not to mention the kids are guaranteed to love it. The recipe below is as illustrated by Ciara Attwell of myfussyeater.com
Ingredients
- 500g roughly chopped strawberries
- 100ml cold water
- 2 tbsp honey
Preparation
Step 1:
Add the strawberries and water to a saucepan and cook until the water starts to boil. Use a potato mash to press down on the strawberries and mash them into the liquid.
Step 2:
Turn the heat down to a simmer, add the honey and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3:
Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. At this stage, you can also push the syrup through a fine strainer to remove any remaining bits of seeds.
Step 4:
Allow to cool before mixing 1 tbsp of the syrup with a glass of milk.
Tip:
If you want your drink to be completely smooth, pass it through a fine sieve to remove any leftover bits of seeds that the kids may not like.
