The Nation reports that the controversial pastor made an appearance at the Force Criminal Investigation Division (FCID) of the Nigeria Police in Abuja Tuesday, August 27. The pastor’s protocol team were reportedly asked to leave the police station.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, during an interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday confirmed that the flamboyant pastor was in police custody. Responding to a question, Mba said, “Yes, he is in our custody.”
When asked if the pastor was being detained, the Force spokesman said it was too early to say. He also said the investigation of Fatoyinbo was proof that the police had not swept the matter under the carpet as was being insinuated in some quarters.
The return of the senior pastor of COZA to the pulpit weeks after he announced he was stepping down from preaching while failing to submit himself for investigation was met with outrage from Nigerians across the globe with some suggesting he should have allowed time for an investigation into the allegation.
