Nigerian Cleric, Rev. Grace Aiyedogbon Drums Support For Mercy Aigbe For Leaving Her Hubby, Addresses The Issue Of Abuse In Marriages
The issue of abuse in relationships and marriages is one that is quite prevalent in African society. A number of women have shied away from leaving their husbands despite being in an abusive relationship over fears that it is not Biblical and because of what people will say.
Well, a Nigerian preacher, Rev. Grace Aiyedogbon, has spoken about the issue of domestic violence in marriages on social media. She did this while speaking with popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe.
Recall that mother of two packed out of her husband’s house after several claims/cases of domestic abuse. The entrepreneur and filmmaker, who got separated from her husband, Lanre Gentry, in 2018, is said to be living a single mom’s life with her two kids.
According to reverend Grace, a marriage counseling expert, the bible does not say a woman should remain in an abusive relationship and die.

She added that if a woman eventually dies in such a marriage, it will not take the man long to marry another woman. Furthermore, the preacher said that there is a level of abuse someone must not take in marriage and must seek help if found in an abusive relationship.
In her words:
”If any man beats you and you die, that man will go down the lane within two or 3 months and marry another wife, there is an abuse you should not take, there is an abuse you should seek for help… the bible did not say stay there till he kills you.”
Rev. Aiyedogbon also said that the doctrine of submission is equal and mutual. Mercy, 42, then asked if the preacher means that the bible says men should also submit to their wives and the preacher affirmed it, saying it is in Ephesians chapter five.
