First-time Mom, Katy Perry Explains Why It’s Wrong To Assume ‘Being a mom isn’t a full time job’
Pop star, Katy Perry is just a day away from completing her first month of motherhood, and it’s safe to say she has a greater appreciation for all the parents out there.
With breastfeeding, changing diapers and countless sleepless nights, Perry have a shout-out to the moms who have learned how to juggle a career, their family and a personal life — which is why she went to bat for them in a strongly-worded four-part Twitter thread.
In the Twitter thread titled “Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full time job”, the first time mom opened up about how much her world has changed since welcoming daughter Daisy Dove a month ago.
In fact, the the “American Idol” judge said the popular misconception is quite the opposite.
“When a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off…’ she’s coming from a full time job… of being a mom,” the “Smile” singer added, pointing out that childcare is a 24-hour responsibility.

Now that the new mom is learning the ropes and sharing the trials and tribulations of being a full time parent, Perry wants to inspire fans to not only be more thankful of their mothers, but to caregivers everywhere.
“Call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her,” she instructed. “And advocate for paid family leave!”
Perry made clear that she isn’t complaining about her rapidly changing lifestyle, clarifying in her final tweet, “I love my job.”

In the month since becoming a mom, the pop star has shared that she’s settling into the rhythm of her newborn’s schedule, albeit her sleep is taking a toll.
Daisy, who was born on Aug. 27, is Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s first child together, though he has a son from his previous marriage. The couple announced her birth on UNICEF’s Instagram (they both serve as ambassadors for the organization).

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” they said at the time.
“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes.
Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”
