Kidnap Of Over 200 School Pupils: First Lady, Remi Tinubu Calls For Capital Punishment For Abductors Of Children
The First lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu, has called on state governors to enforce capital punishment on criminals who abduct children in any part of the country.
While speaking to newsmen after the celebration of the 2024 International Women’s day, Mrs. Tinubu said;
“Whoever is kidnapping children is sick, cruel and a coward. Enough is enough. I call on state governors that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment.
Why don’t they take people their size? Why are they touching our children? What they are doing is they are trying to kill your future.
We all know parents, when we are old, we rely on our children and we see them as our investments that have not gone to waste especially when they are successful.
Why would you go and take them from schools? Why? As a former lawmaker, I believe that any one of them captured deserves capital punishment. I say it and I believe most mothers believe that.”

This comes after former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani cried out following the abduction of over 200 school pupils and teachers from a school in Kaduna state.
Speaking, he described the kidnapping of school children by terrorists in Northern Nigeria as a lucrative business.
Sani said kidnappers use it to blackmail government into paying huge ransom, adding that kidnappers know it will evoke public sympathy for the pupils as pressure will be mounted on the government to bow to their demands.
Terrorists had on Thursday morning, stormed LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State and kidnapped about 285 pupils and teachers.
The incident happened at about 8:20 am immediately after the morning assembly. Sani said many parents in rural areas will now be afraid to allow their children to go to school, pointing that the development is a serious problem for basic education in northern Nigeria.
