Using Her Mom As Example, Nigerian Lady Explains Why Women Shouldn’t Agree To Be Full-time Housewives
A Nigerian woman took to social media enlighten women on why they shouldn’t agree to be full time housewives.
Using her mother as a case study, the lady, @T_nsofor on X said when her mum started working, her dad kicked against it, so she left the marriage and went to find her way as a lawyer.
However, three years after, they reconciled. Sadly, after some years, her dad died.
Just as expected, after his demise, his family started showing the wife and children he left behind their true colors. The X user concluded that if not for her mother’s successful law practice, they would have beggars after their dad’s death.
Below is her narration:
“When my mum started working, my dad said no, she left & went to find her way. They reconciled 3yrs after and when my dad died and the extended family started showing us shege, her successful law practice was why we didn’t beg.
Keep infantilizing yourself cos you have a husband. When she left us with dad, the youngest was 3, when her dad died the youngest was 10.
Six days after he died, they held a family meeting, told us out school were uber expensive and we have to change to the community schools. The only reason that failed was cos my mum is a boss babe.
My mom will say she has spent her career fighting bad husbands but she has also spent a bulk of that career fighting women who don’t understand that their lives are theirs and theirs alone. Not for their kids, husband or family but theirs only.”
