Patience Ozokwor Shares Heartfelt Details Of Her Past Struggles Before Fame

Veteran Nollywood actress and grandma, Patience Ozokwor, fondly known as Mama G, has opened up about her challenging journey to stardom in the entertainment industry.

The widowed mum has brought nothing but joy to Nigerian homes with her prowess at her acting craft.

Typecast as the wicked mother-in-law by Nollywood movie producers, Patience discharged her acting duties causing us to marvel at her antics that brought make-believe to near truth.

Speaking at the pre-premiere dinner for actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele’s movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, the mum-of-four revealed the sacrifices she made to support her family before her breakthrough in the film industry.

Mama G shared heartfelt details of her past struggles and lauded Funke for her resilience and work ethic.

According to her, she used to go to the morgue to dress dead bodies so her children could go to school and eat, adding that she did a lot of odd jobs to make her family what they are today.

The multi-talented movie star said:

“Funke Akindele is a very strong woman. I love strong women. I am a strong woman. I went through thick and thin to become who I am today.

I used to go to the mortuary to dress dead bodies so my children could go to school and eat. I did a lot of things to make my family what they are today.”

Recently, Patience was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theatre and Media Arts, she expressed her Joy and gratitude highlighting sacrifices she made to get where she is.

Mama G also reflected on how her community recognized and appreciated her hard work, saying,

“In my own place, they appreciate me a lot because they saw me through all these things.”

Drawing parallels between herself and Funke, she expressed admiration for the filmmaker’s determination.

“When I see Funke, I look at myself. She’s a replica of who I am,” Mama G added.
