Mercy Aigbe Addresses Negative Comments On Her Marriage As She Speaks On Her Family’s Stance On Her Remarriage
Actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti has addressed negative comments about her marriage to Ibaka TV boss, Kazim Adeoti.
Recall that Mercy made headlines in 2022 when she finally came clean about her relationship with the movie marketer who has four kids from his previous marriage.
After weeks of speculation, the actress confirmed their romantic relationship, and they later tied the knot. Further down the line, she converted to her husband’s religion as she became a Muslim, giving herself the Muslim name, Hajia Minnah.
While the Nollywood star faced serious backlash in the public space, things were not all that different from within her family, as some of her family members questioned her decision to remarry, citing her age.
In an interview with her colleague Bimpe Akintunde for her talk show, Iriri Mi, the mother of two revealed how she feels anytime people say she turned her husband, a father of four, to dense.
The movie star fired back at her critics, saying she counts all the negative public reactions that have trailed her current marriage as just noise, as she questioned how their lives were faring.
She noted how people only talk when they are doing something good or are well known. She stated that one has to be at the top to be the topic of their conversation.
“That’s just noise. Look close at those talking. How is their life? Definitely, people talk, and it’s when people do something good that they talk.
If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic. When I was young, I never thought my life would turn out this way.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Aigbe revealed that her family were against her remarriage, especially due to her age.
However, she didn’t bow to them because she knew exactly what she wanted. Mercy said she is the kind of person who loves to have a crown on her head and loves to be married.

“I love love, actually. What you said now, a lot of people do ask me, even some family members. They would be like, I’m close to 50 years old; what am I looking for? But I believe everybody knows what they want.
What you want might be different from mine. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I am the kind of person who loves to have a crown (husband) on my head and loves to be married.
Maybe, if I’m still in my baby’s daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe.”
