Dear MIMsters: How do I handle this troubling issue my Sunday school teacher got me into?
I am a mother of 2. I got a maid recently through my Sunday school teacher who happens to be very thorough. The girl is very fervent in sweeping and washing the church toilets, which was one of the reasons my Sunday school teacher took interest in her.
Normally, anyone who comes to my house to live must be ready to do HIV/Herpertitis test or I won’t let you stay. Six days after she started living with me, I took her for the test and she tested Positive to HIV. She begged me not to tell anyone not even my Sunday school teacher and since I have an America Certificate on HIV/AIDS and Management, I felt I could manage the sickness with her. I decided to start her treatment immediately.
The following day, we spent most of the day in the hospital, paying and checking her CD4 count which will be determine the treatment she would get. Two days later, I got her result and her the CD4 count was 150 which means it’s progressing fast to AIDS. This got me more worried coupled with she’s been feeling lately. She’s been sleeping so much that people around are asking if she is sick to pregnant.
I don’t want to expose her to stigmatisation and neglect, but I know she needs help. My Sunday school teacher said she cannot be responsible for her because what if something happens to her and she dies, what will she do and how will she explain this? Meanwhile, she has always been aware of this girl’s status. The girl’s elder sister sent her out of her house to avoid her 5 kids from been infected but she never mentioned it me in the first place.
I’m so confused about what next to do to help her. Is there an NGO that can care for her and shelter her? Where do I go from here?
Just an advice to all employers of domestic staff, please carry out the vital medical tests before employing them.
I think there are NGO’s who cares for people living with HIV. Ask from the hospital and know what to do going forward. But that Sunday school teacher tho’ smh.
Devils that uses the church as camouflage.
What state are you. If you’re in Akwaibom I can take you to a good NGO.
This is a real eye opener for some of us.
God bless you Sis for the measures you have already taken.
hmmmmnn
