BREAKING: Nigerian Government Secures Release Of Girl Facing Execution, Zainab Aliyu, From Saudi Detention
There is good news after the unfortunate encounter of the Nigerian student, Zainab Aliyu, who has been detained in Saudi Arabia since December 26, on suspicion that she is a drug trafficker.
The detained woman faced execution by the Saudi government until investigations in Nigeria showed that some airport staff at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) who acted as insiders for a drug cartel had tagged a bag full of drugs in the passenger’s name, unknown to her. Following investigations carried out by the detectives of the NDLEA, Zainab’s innocence became apparent; the six members of the drug cartel were arrested and yesterday the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Foreign Relations & Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, tweeted that the president had issued a directive to the Attorney-General of the federation to take immediate steps that will ensure that Zainab is released and returned to Nigeria.
We have no idea how they went about the assignment but the Federal Government has now secured the release of Zainab and another victim of the cartel’s antics. Channels TV and TVC have shared the breaking news on their sites.
Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has also confirmed the news on his Twitter handle.
