Scary: Woman Gets Staph Infection From Sharing Make Up Brush
NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A woman in Australia is helping spread a health alert as to why you should never share makeup with friends or family.
Jo Gilchrist, a young mother, is fighting to recover from a drug-resistant staph infection that left her partially paralyzed.
She caught it from borrowing a friend’s makeup brush right before her friend found out she had a staph infection.
Gilchrist later developed the infection, that damaged her spine.
Health officials warn the risks of spreading infections by sharing personal items like towels or razors.
The CDC says about a third of the population carries staph bacteria, usually without showing any symptoms.
