Harrowing Experience Of Mum, 31, Who Suffered Abuse In The Hands Of A Man She Loved

A mother has described of the terror she suffered at the hands of her partner after he turned from a loving boyfriend to a violent monster, the Daily Mail UK reports.

According to the media; Terri-Louise Graham, 31, has bravely spoken out about her three-year relationship with Greg Logue, 35, who hit her over the head with a TV, bit her, battered her while she was pregnant and hit their baby.

After giving birth to their second child, Terri-Louise from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, signed over guardianship of her children to her mother, as she was fearful Greg would hurt them.

‘I was desperate to escape but I thought if I tried to leave I would end up dead,’ Terri recalled. ‘He threatened to kill me.’

After three years of ‘living in hell’ Terri was saved after Greg was finally arrested
and jailed for seven years.

The Open University student said she was initially charmed by Greg but quickly realised he was cruel.
She said: ‘It sounds clichéd but I was under his spell. He was so charming at first. Everyone thought he was a keeper.
‘Then I feel pregnant, and I thought life couldn’t get any better.’

When the going was good

But Greg’s endearing persona was just a façade, something Terri discovered when she was 20 weeks pregnant.

She recalled: ‘We were at a friend’s party, and I noticed he was a little worse for wear so I said we should leave. He turned at me, his eyes full of hatred, and told me I was pathetic.
‘I was taken aback as he’d never so much as raised his voice in the seven months we’d been together.’
But things took a violent turn when the couple made their way home and Terri was subjected to a horrific attack.
‘On the walk home he slammed his fist into my face. I fell back into some bushes, and he rained blows down on me.
‘I begged for him to stop for the sake of our unborn baby, but that just angered him further.’
Back home Terri noticed blood in her underwear and rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital, telling a nurse she had fallen down some stairs.
Thankfully her baby was unharmed.

She continued: ‘Greg cried, and promised me it wouldn’t happen again. Then I saw the blood in my knickers and panicked.
‘He stayed at home while I went to hospital. There, I told a nurse that I’d fallen down the stairs. I was so surprised by how easily the lie came out.
‘Thankfully, scans showed that my baby was unharmed. For the next few months Greg treated me well. I really believed the incident was a one off.
‘In January 2009 I gave birth to a son and nine months later I discovered I was pregnant again.’
For a while normal life resumed and Terri hoped that they could put the incident behind them but things quickly turned sour.
‘Greg suddenly turned one evening,’ she said. ‘He shouted, “You’re cheating on me aren’t you?” while I breastfed our son.
‘He then launched himself at me. He kneed me in the stomach and bit my nose.
‘I tried to protect my son but he started screaming and Greg hit him too.’
She recalled how she ‘clutched her baby’ and ran to her bathroom, locking herself in before Greg eventually left the house

Throughout the rest of Terri’s pregnancy Greg violently attacked and sexually abused her which led to a heartbreaking decision for the mother-of-two.
‘I realised I had to sign over guardianship of my children,’ she said. ‘It was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had to do, but I couldn’t have them around Greg.
‘I knew I couldn’t leave him. If I did, I was convinced he’d kill me. My mum urged me to, but I saw no way out.’
A few days later the couple went on a night out with friends. Terri arranged to stay the night with her friend while Greg went home.
‘Only he followed me to my pal’s,’ she said. ‘I let him in and he suddenly smashed a bottle of vodka against my head.
‘As it shattered my friend looked on in horror. Up until then Greg had kept his violence behind closed doors.
‘I was drenched in blood and vodka when I ran outside. But Greg caught up with me and pinned me down.
‘Then he beat me and ripped my dress off with a pen knife. I pushed him off and ran, almost naked, down the road.
‘He caught up with me again, pulled down my knickers and sexually abused me on the pavement in the darkness.
‘Somehow we got back home. There his sick torture continued. As he bit, elbowed and head-butted my face all I could think was that I would never see my babies again.’
Greg continued to attack Terri to the point where her life became in serious danger.
‘Then he ripped our TV out the wall and smashed it over my head. I ebbed in and out of consciousness.
‘I could barely open my eyes as I came round. Then he grabbed a washing line, formed a noose and put it round my neck.
‘I was convinced I was going to die.’
Terris’s friend had called the police and they arrived at the property Greg managed to escape, but he handed himself in 11 days later.
In March 2013, Greg Deyzel Logue, then 32, appeared at Londonderry Crown Court, and pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault, making a threat to kill and possession of a knife.
He also admitted a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The judge jailed him for seven years.
In May 2014 he admitted a further eight charges of indecent assault against Miss Graham and six charges of common assault.
For that, he was sentenced to an extra three years in prison. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
Terri, who has chosen to waive her anonymity said: ‘Now I’m slowly piecing my life back together.
‘I’ve been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and am having counselling.
‘But I won’t let that beast ruin my life.’
Terri is taking steps in order to move on from her ordeal and hopes to inspire other abuse victims to do the same.
She said: ‘I’m studying counselling and psychology and I’m going to create a life my kids can be proud of.
‘By sharing my story, I want other women to realise they’re not alone.
‘I want to encourage them to get out before it’s too late – like I did.’
