X-user Shares Intriguing Love Story Of How Her Widowed Mom Met And Married Her Single, Never-Been-Married Dad
An X user, @livetime_fe has shared the heartwarming story of how her mother met and got married to her father thirty-eight (38) years ago.
She shared the story while contributing to a thread on how people’s parents met each other.
According to her, her mother became a widow from an abusive marriage and had a five-year-old son. Her dad at the time was in his 40s and was keen on never getting married, stating he would only concede to marriage if the woman was a widow or divorcee.
She said an aunt who badly wanted her father to get married introduced him to her mum and they have since lived happily.
The X user said when her mum asked her dad why he went for a widow when there were single women, her father told her mum that being a widow wasn’t her fault and that she deserved happiness.
Read the heartwarming story below…
“Mum was a widow of an abusive marriage and with a 5 year old son (my brother). Dad was in his 40s committed to being a bachelor.
Aunt wanted dad to find a companion, so she wrote an emotional letter. He was moved, agreed to marry but only if the girl was a widow or divorcee… Aunt finds a match (which happens to be my mum who finally accepted to get married since brother was 12 now).
Meanwhile, the same day my dad receives a telegram from a cousin who has never written to him before, with a match. Surprise surprise, it’s my mum….
Dad is like ‘holy shit, this is too freaky to be a coincidence’. He’s posted in Delhi, so he takes a train down to Chennai to meet my mum. He asks my grandfather if he can take her out on a date, and then they spend the day together.
Mum has only one question. She’s skeptical and asks why a man wants to marry a widow (it was 1986). Dad says her being a widow is not her fault, se deserves happiness.
They fall in love and the same day decide to get married. It’s been 38 years and he’s more in love with her now than ever.
And since this blew up, I just wanna say that my dad is such a romantic soul. He loves my mom loud and proud. He will go sit with her and kiss her and say ‘my wife’, randomly massage her head, do every act of service possible, even to this day.
Also, how could he not fall in love when he saw her. Look at her.”
