Students Protest As Transgender Teen Insists On Using Girl’s Changing Room

A protest was started by about 150 students students after a transgender teen insisted on using the girl’s changing rooms but another 40 students came out in support of Lila Perry, 17, who has identified as a female since the age of 13.

According to the Mirror , the protests follow a school board meeting last week to debate whether Lila had the right to use the ladies’ facilities in Hillsboro High School in St. Louis. Speaking to local news station KMOV, the teen insisted she had as much right as any of the girls to get changed in the female changing room before PE.

“There’s a lot of ignorance, they are claiming that they’re uncomfortable. I don’t believe for a second that they are. I think this is pure and simple bigotry,” the teenager said.

Lila has not undergone any gender reassignment surgery, but wears a wig and female clothes but insisted, even though she had male organs, she would be no threat to anyone using the changing room.

Lila told Fox2 News: “I’m not going to hurt their daughters. I’m not going to expose myself. I’m not a pervert. I’m a transgender woman. I’m a girl. I’m just in there to change do my business, and that if they have any questions about being transgender, they are more than welcome to talk to me, and I’ll be happy to explain it.”

Fellow student Sophie Beel, who was protesting against Lila, explained: “I find it offensive because Lila has not gone through any procedure to become female. Putting on a dress and putting on a wig is not transgender to me.”

Lila has now dropped out of PE but insists she will continue to use the ladies’ toilet as she is a girl and wants to be treated like one.

School officials issued a statement that says they will promote tolerance and the district accepts all students regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
