Mum Who Claimed She Was Asked To Leave Store Because She Was Breastfeeding Admits She Lied

A 28-year-old mum Caroline Starmer, who caused a social media storm when she claimed a security guard at a Primark store pulled her baby away from her while breastfeeding (read here), has admitted she lied.

Appearing at a Leicester Crown Court, Caroline pleaded guilty to a charge of intent to pervert the course of justice.

Caroline had claimed in a series of posts on Facebook, that on July 13 she was approached by a security guard at Primark store who asked her to leave because she was breastfeeding her daughter.

“I stood my ground and stated my rights, that I can legally feed where I want just for the security officer to physically remove my daughter from my breast and walk down the store with her, saying if I wanted my daughter, then I was to come and get her. Obviously, I went and retrieved my daughter as soon as my senses got the better of me and I went straight to the local police station afterwards to lodge a complaint.”

The posts went viral which led to a lot of angry reactions from mums who were not happy with the incident. This led to an investigation by the police with  CCTV cameras at the store reviewed, leading to her been charged.
