Remember This Photo Of Mum With Breast Cancer Breasfeeding Baby? Strangers Pitched In To Pay Medical Bills

Photos of a breast cancer patient breastfeeding her son with her remaining breast after having a mastectomy that went viral earlier this year has drawn a positive reaction from kind-hearted people who pitched in to help pay her medical bills.

Sarah Whitney, 31, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer during her pregnancy. She had one breast removed while pregnant and had to undergo chemotherapy before she was induced at 36 weeks.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Sarah’s main concern was to give birth safely and her son Kal-El was fortunately born healthy.

According to Mirror, Sarah’s condition led to her incurring huge medical bills which led to a fund raising campaign to help her take care of the cost and people from all over the world have helped her out by raising about 5,100 pounds.

Also other mums have even been donating their own breast milk after Sarah had to stop breastfeeding two weeks after Kal-El was born to continue with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Speaking to Today, Sarah said: “There have been 27 women who’ve donated milk to feed my son. And he’s amazing. I keep saying God must know I want him on breast milk, because he’s not picky. He will take anyone’s milk”.

Sarah is now at home with her six months old son and is doing fine.

Speaking about the viral photos she said: “Just to know that he came out and there were all these doctors and specialists and nurses around in case something was wrong, for him to come out perfect and then to know what to do and latch on, it was so important to me to be able to have that time with him. I was just overwhelmed with emotion.”
