Rescued Chibok Girl Amina Ali Undergoes Medical Test… Abductor Says Hunger Made Them Surrender

Yesterday, news broke that one of the kidnapped Chibok girls, Amina Ali Nkekei has been found, alongside a child, identified to be her baby and a man, Mohammed Hayatu, one of her abductors.

According to Channels TV,  Mohammed who was rescued yesterday alongside Amina and her baby, reportedly surrendered himself, Amina and their baby to members of the Borno state Civilian Joint Task Force due to lack of food and poor health care.

Mohammed, who is said to be one of the Boko Haram commanders a.k.a “Amir”, reportedly escaped with Amina and their baby from Sambisa forest and gave themselves up to some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force in Balle, a village in Damboa.

He reportedly told the vigilante group members that hunger and ill health forced him to surrender as they were starving to death following the blocking of Boko Haram’s food supply routes by the military.

According to him, his family would have starved to death following the blocking of supply routes by intensive military operations. After the preliminary investigation, the rescued girl, and her baby have been handed over to Borno State Governor, Shetima, at Government house.

The rescued girl was airlifted by Nigeria Air Force Super Puma aircraft from Damboa to Maiduguri, Borno State alongside her baby and Mohammed.

Before then, they were examined at Air Force medical facility and were found to be stable and normal blood pressure was observed.

After the preliminary investigation, Amina and her baby was handed over to Borno State Governor, Honourable Kashim Shetima, at Government house, Maiduguri yesterday evening by the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in a brief ceremony.
