See Why This Mum Of 10 Kids By 5 Fathers Wants 50 Grandchildren

A mother of ten children by five different fathers, Mandy Cowie, 49, who has been on benefits for more than 30 years and receives around £1,400 a month in handouts from the state has told how she now wants 50 grandchildren to become Britain’s biggest benefits family.

The heavily tattooed mum says she has no plans to find work. Instead, she is now relying on her brood to have their own children. Mandy already has 16 grandkids.

Ms Cowie said: “Ten kids and full of tattoos mate. So what if I’m on the effing dole mate – don’t like it – eff off. I had my first one at 18 and my last one at 36, and I’ve told them I want 50 grandkids before I die.”

Mandy receives her son Jack’s disability benefit, child tax credits and child benefit, along with her own dole money, as well as a four-bedroom home in Hastings, East Sussex.

The handouts tot up to around £20,000 a year in benefits.

She told Closer magazine: “People may be shocked that I’ve been on benefits for so long but I don’t care. I can’t work because of the kids, and while the pregnancies weren’t planned, I love having a big family. I probably wouldn’t get a job that would pay as much as I get now anyway. People might judge but if it’s there on offer, who wouldn’t take it?”

Mandy has three children still living with her at home. They include her 14-year-old daughter, Charlie, who refuses to go to school and sits at home smoking.

Her daughter Cristal, 24, has flown the nest and now has four children of her own.

Cristal said: “I’m still with the baby’s dad but he doesn’t live at my house. People say he lives there but he doesn’t. If we were to live together our benefits would get stopped, so we might as well be together and live in different houses.
