La La Anthony Breaks Silence on the State of Her Relationship With Ex Husband Carmelo Anthony

There were reports in April that celebrity couple Carmelo Anthony & La La Vazquez split after 13 years together (read here).

It was also reported that the pair who got married in 2013 separated due to allegations that Carmelo, a basketball player, was messing around with a stripper in New York and allegedly got her pregnant, (read here).

But the former MTV personality isn’t going to fuel the rumors, instead, she’s staying quiet and she’s got a good reason for it.

The “Power” actress covers Latina magazine’s Winter 2017 issue and played coy when asked about where the couple stands post-split.

“When you entertain [rumors] you give them power. Only I know what’s going on with my relationship and that’s what matters to me, not what everybody else thinks,” she told the publication.

“I’m trying to be an example for other women out there. You don’t have to feed into the bulls–t. Deal with it quietly,” she continued.

“When it’s time for the world to know, they’ll know. There’s no strength in playing it out publicly. What am I going to gain from that? I like the high road.”

The couple are said to still be on friendly terms, mainly because of their son, 10-year-old Kiyan Anthony.

However, La La did praise Carmelo’s parenting skills.

“It’s hard when your dad doesn’t live in the same place that you live anymore, for any 10-year-old that’s hard,” she says, referencing Carmelo’s trade from the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“We try to make it as normal as possible and make access to his dad as frequent as possible. They have an incredible bond and Melo is an incredible dad.

They’re always on FaceTime or on the phone planning their next trip.”
