“I was afraid that my wife would leave me…” – Veteran Actor, Ernest Azuzu Shares His Tribulations Before & After the Incident
Nollywood Veteran actor Ernest Asuzu suffered a stroke in 2015. Asuzu, who claimed he could neither walk nor talk at the time, opened up about his tribulations before and after the incident.
Asuzu who recently spoke in a chat with Sunday Scoop, revealed that he was scared that his wife of eight years Jennifer Azuzu, would leave him when he had stroke and couldn’t work for three years.
Although even as the actor suffered paralysis in most parts of his body, he claimed it didn’t affect his sex life as he was having regular sexual activities with his wife.

”When I was down with a stroke, my wife was the only one who didn’t forsake me. It was a terrible situation because I did not work for three years, yet I was spending money.
I must confess that I was afraid that my wife would leave me at that time because of my situation.
Though the illness was serious, it didn’t affect my sex life. Naturally, I am hyperactive in bed and I don’t joke with sex. I have been married officially for five years.”
Asuzu also mentioned that a lot of people abandoned him while he was sick and it is quite sickening to see same set of people calling him for movie roles.
”Since I survived the stroke, it has not been easy for me but I am working now. I went for a shoot some days ago. When I had a stroke, I was abandoned by friends but all the people who abandoned me then are calling me for jobs now.
We do not help each other in Nollywood. If a person has a stroke or any other illness, he should not be left alone. I was angry at my colleagues because they didn’t help me when I needed them.”
It was later gathered that Asuzu was healed after he was prayed for by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri, Delta State. The pastor was also alleged to have given the actor a new SUV and N1.5m.

The Nollywood veteran admitted that he was yet to recover fully despite reports that he had been healed.
”I was truly healed and I thank God for sparing my life. I loved to dance, but I cannot do that anymore. When I have recovered fully, I would be able to do some of the things I was doing before. After all, there was a time that I couldn’t walk or talk well,” he said.

”When it was clear that the world had rejected me, I had to go back to Christ. Whatever has happened to me all through these years, happened for a reason.
If these things had not happened, I would not have discovered how much Christ loves me and how much I should have held onto him,” the now born-again actor/rapper added.
Asuzu began his acting career in the late 90s film Another Campus Queen. He also featured in a number of Nollywood flicks, one notably the highly acclaimed and successful, Rituals by Kenneth Nnebue.
The Imo-born actor Ernest Asuzu, who before his disappearance from the screen was enmeshed in series of controversies that even led to rumours of insanity, is back from oblivion.
