Child Custody: OAP Dotun’s Ex-Wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo Found Guilty Of Contempt, Risk Jail Term

Things have continue to fall apart between popular On air personality, Dotun Kayode and his estranged wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, who is also a sister to popular pop star, Dapo ‘D’Banj’ Oyebanjo, as she was reportedly found guilty of contempt a few days ago.

In a Divorce Petition she filed in Abuja, Taiwo was found guilty of contempt of court and may be committed to prison.

A High court sitting in Dukpa, Abuja declared the mother of two culpable of contravening the Order of the court involving the shared custody of the couple’s children.

It will be recalled that in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21 the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife divided custody of the kids, after Dotun applied for it in April 2022 and both parties initially complied.

Contrary to the Order of Court, Taiwo denied her estranged husband access to their children since December 2022 without any valid reason.

As a result, Dotun sought legal redress and, ultimately resulted in a full-blown and heated social media exchange between the couple in recent times.

Delivering the judgment in the Contempt proceedings against Taiwo, the court ruled and found Taiwo guilty of disobeying the order of Court, declaring that her refusal to allow Dotun Kayode access and custody of the Children in December 2022 was a disobedience to the Order of the Court and ordered that the she pays the sum of N200,000 within 30days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.

We had earlier gathered that, a mild drama almost ensued after the judgment against Dotun’s estranged wife was delivered as her lawyers attempted to withdraw their representation on her behalf but the matter was adjourned to 11th December for Trial.

Information gathered suggests that the Contemnor, Taiwo who was absent in court, may have allegedly flown the children out of Nigeria since June 2023.

This calls to question the regard by Nigerians to abide by the orders of the courts of the Land.
