‘He Never Recovered From The Shocked’ -Filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro Speaks Out On Saint Obi’s Death
Nigerian filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro has spoken out on the death of his colleague and friend, Saint Obi.
In a chat with Vanguard, Zeb narrated how Obi’s marriage affected him so much that he never recovered from the shock until his death.
According to him, Saint Obi couldn’t survive the shock of living apart from his family till his death. He said:
“Obi told me a couple of times that his marriage was crumbling and it was eating him up. He was a family man, somebody that loved to stay with his kids and build a happy home. But when his marriage crumbled, it affected him and he never recovered from the shock till death.”
Zeb Ejiro noted how a man can become depressed when he is apart from his family. He added:
“When a man is not together with his family, he will be depressed. No man will fall into that kind of situation and be happy. So, that contributed to his death.”
Ejiro further disclosed that he received a call from Saint Obi two weeks before his death where he intimidated him about his protracted illness. He continued:
“Two weeks before his demise, my phone rang and it was Saint Obi on the other end. I asked him where he had been; that everybody had been looking for him. That was when he told me that he had been down and was admitted to the hospital. He added that he had done multi surgeries and his condition wasn’t improving.
His elder sister then made arrangements to move him to Jos, where he could be given proper treatment. That was the last time we spoke, as I promised to reach out to him again. But I never did, as the next thing I hear was that Obi is no more.”
Similarly, Nigerian filmmaker, Zik Zulu Okafor in a lengthy write-up had narrated how Obi’s marriage took him away from his acting career and from his friends.
The movie producer, in an article dedicated to the deceased, spoke out on his turbulent marital life and how his wife, was calling the shots in their marriage.
According to him, he said his wife, who was a top executive at a telecommunication company, and her siblings saw him as a ‘gold digger’.
He alleged that Obi was always harassed by his wife’s siblings especially her brothers, which eventually led to the end of the marriage.
Zik disclosed that Saint Obi’s health deteriorated mid-last year before his death.
Last year, Saint had battled his wife, Linda Amobi, over the custody of their three children.
This came after a divorce suit was submitted. According to a lawsuit filed by the actor’s lawyers in Suit No: HCT/128/2019, the actor is alleging an attempt on his life by his estranged wife.
The ‘Glamour Girls’ actor joined his estranged wife’s brothers, Michael Amobi and Chukwumobi Amobi in the same suit.
The actor had dragged his wife to the High Court of Ota, Ogun State for the dissolution of their marriage, which was contracted in 2006.
He alleged they prevented him from seeing his children. Also, according to sources, Ms. Amobi has allegedly “imprisoned” the children of the problematic marriage by hiring Mobile Police officers to protect them without the father’s permission, therefore preventing her ex-husband from access to their children.
