See What A Security Man Did To A Mum For Breastfeeding 9-Month-Old Daughter At A Primark Store

A mother has been left in shock after she was told by a security guard to leave a store while she was breastfeeding her nine-month-old baby.

The Mirror reports:

Primark is investigating claims a security guard physically pulled a nine-month-old baby from her mother’s breast during a row over the infant being fed in store.

In a series of Facebook posts, Caroline Starmer alleges she was asked to leave the branch of the clothing chain in Leicester after she began breastfeeding her daughter in “a quiet spot”. Within five minutes, a security guard approached who asked to her to “vacate the premises”, she claims.

Mrs Starmer, a mum of twin daughters, continued: “I stood my ground and stated my rights, that I can legally feed where I want just for the security officer to physically remove my daughter from my breast and walk down the store with her, saying if I wanted my daughter, then I was to come and get her. Obviously, I went and retrieved my daughter as soon as my senses got the better of me and I went straight to the local police station afterwards to lodge a complaint.

“My husband has been on the phone to the assistant manager of the Primark store on and off all afternoon, and they said they would investigate it, however, since he admitted he could see me on cctv, he hasn’t called back since, my confidence is shot, and my poor daughter hasn’t been herself all afternoon.”

Primark confirmed it is investigating the alleged incident. A spokesman said: “We wish to make it absolutely clear that mothers are welcome to breastfeed in our stores. We are investigating this incident urgently, and take these claims very seriously.”

Mrs Starmer was inundated with more thousands of replies to her Facebook post last night. She later added: “I am in complete shock over the amount of support I am getting on this, all the comments on here, on my post, inbox messages, friend requests, it’s all amazing, and I am completely shocked. Thank you all sooooo much xxx”

Leicester Police could not immediately confirm it had received a complaint of assault.

  • Let the matter be investigated and if the guard is acting on his own rules and not of Primark, let him be made to face the law so all these humiliation against nursing mums will be put to a stop. Imagine dragging a suckling baby, are you kidding me???

  • Why can’t a mother breastfeed wherever she wants? So far she’s not disturbing or encroaching on anyone’s space at the time then she has every right to.

  • So far as u r not disturbing anyone,I dnt think it’s a crime to breastfeed in public.
This shuld b properly investigated nd if d security officer is found guilty,he should face d law.

  • Message.. Its not a crime to breast-feed in public but we should be concious on the kinda outfit we put on to avoid exposing the whole boobs cause its embarrasing

  • A nursing mother should be allowed to breastfed her baby whenever or wherever the baby want to be feed, but should do it in such a way, dt all her boobs will not be expose… the security officer should be caution on doing dt next time
